More Brick Route 66 - South of Springfield

Old Brick! We went hunting for this brick curve on North Cotton Hill Road after I exchanged email with Henry Dickerman. He remembered playing near it as a child. He also said Toronto Road had yet to be built at that time. To find this - Take Southbound I-55 to the Toronto Road exit and turn left. Go straight to North Cotton Hill Road. Turn left and follow North Cotton Hill Road until it curves {to the left}. The brick curve is parallel to the blacktop curve. There is a little gravel turnout you can park in just after the curve. This is the view from the turnout facing the east. The sign is advertising the availability of the open area to the left of the picture for commercial use.
Still more brick! This is still pointed east walking back toward the curve.
Brick Although hard to see here, the brick curves to the right and runs under the steel cable barricade. The weeds have really taken hold on parts of it. I've driven by here many times and never seen this.
Yep, Brick! This is a marginally better view of the barricade. Be aware that the 'sticker' weeds are pretty bad beyond this point. Cockle Burrs {or whatever they're called} are thick in there. Wear something that will cover your socks! I was picking those things out of my socks and Nikes for an hour!
Brick! This is the view back west from the barricade.
NCHRd Here is the view farther down the curve after crossing the barricade and getting beyond the weeds. This is pretty much south at this point.
Brick Road... A bit farther south...
End of the line... The end of the remaining brick. Straight south now. The brick aligns with the straight portion of North Cotton Hill Road perfectly. This was a very 'square' turn before it was bypassed with the blacktop.
Into the sunset... Heading back to the car where it was parked on the turnout. This little bit is gravel with a lot of brick fragments laying about. This shot is to the west.
