The 66 Drive In

Ticket Booth These are the ticket stands at the 66 Drive In. I don't know how many times as a kid we drove past these! We had a '55 Chevy named 'The Blue Goose'. All I remember is that it was blue and Mom had to be very careful how she parked because it could seldom be coerced into reverse gear. The drive in had some great neon signs back then {early 60's}. These ticket stands had bright yellow neon around the roof and the moths would be fluttering around by the thousands. The cars were always lined up deep with at least four attendants collecting money.
Ticket Booth again... The Forth of July was always a big 66 Drive In night for us as they would have a double feature with fireworks between the showings. This is all gone now to become the 'Route 66 Commercial Park' or something to that effect.
Concession Stand This is a really bad picture of the concession stand. It was a pretty gloomy day. The screen had already been demolished by the time this was taken. I really wish I could have taken a picture of the neon sign at the entrance. I hope somebody captured it.
As it turns out, somebody did catch it! Here is a photo of the neon sign that was at the entrance to the 66 Drive In. Thanks Jerry.
